Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust

Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK providing day-to-day health services to a population of around 500,000 people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. As part of its Sustainable Travel Plan the Trust wanted to reduce the number of visits to the Trust made in private vehicles and make it easier for visitors, patients and staff to access information.

Ayrshire and Arran NHS Trust

The Ayrshire and Arran NHS Trust provides a wide range of healthcare including health improvement, acute and primary services. To improve upon the service the Trust can provide to people who visit their hospitals, they decided to install a total of nine of InfoPoint’s 6 and 12-button Help Points at various locations including Ayr Hospital main entrance and Accident and Emergency, Biggart Hospital main reception and Ayrshire Central Hospital’s outpatients department.
The Trust installed the units to make it easier for staff, patients and visitors to make travel arrangements and seek advice with the touch of a button.
The new Help Points link to a range of services including the hospital switchboard, the patient relations and complaints department, a smoking cessation helpline, local taxi service, the communications department and Traveline.

North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus

North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus is responsible for health and social care services in North East Lincolnshire. The organisation is the first of its kind in the UK and allows a much greater degree of integration between health and social care.
As part of the Trust’s responsibility for new GP-led health centres in the area, they contacted InfoPoint regarding the installation of Help Points in six of these centres in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
InfoPoint liaised directly with the Practice Managers on all aspects of the installation. Most of the centres were already equipped with small freephone units linking directly to a local taxi company. However, the installation of the InfoPoint 6-button Help Point meant the centres could retain a freephone link to a taxi provider whilst enhancing the service provided. As well as taxis, the new Help Points link to Traveline, the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, NHS Direct, a dental access centre and podiatry information.
The new health centres were designed to improve the patient experience and provide a comfortable, relaxing environment. Chris Clarke, Facilities Manager for the Trust, chose InfoPoint’s Help Points for their stylish, user-friendly and innovative design features to complement the design and layout of the new buildings.
Patients visiting the new health centres now have a wealth of services and information at their fingertips, all provided free of charge to them and the Trust.
